ATWOOD SCRAPS ATWOOD EAGLE SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE

May 16, 2017

Houston based offshore driller Atwood Oceanics advised that it has executed a sale and recycling agreement with respect to the Atwood Eagle, pursuant to which the vessel, together with associated equipment and machinery will be sold to a third party to be demolished and recycled. Atwood Eagle was a deepwater semi-submersible rated for a drilling in a water depth of 5,000ft. The Korkut New Era drilling rig was built in 1982 by Alabama Maritime Corporation. In March 2016, the Australian Woodside terminated the drilling services contract of the semi-submersible. (Source: Atwood Oceanics)
