Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up installation vessel Bold Tern has successfully mobilised for the Veja Mate offshore wind farm installation project. Bold Tern will be working with Seajacks Scylla to install the 67 Siemens 6MW turbines at the 400MW wind farm. Veja Mate is an offshore wind farm with a capacity of 402 MW being built in the German North Sea. The project is located at about 95 km northwest from Borkum island in the German Exclusive Economic Zone, an area with strong, steady winds. This will allow our 67 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 turbines, each with a capacity of 6 MW and a rotor diameter of 154 meters, to produce enough electricity for 400.000 German homes every year.
Brave Tern is a self-elevating and self-propelled contruction jackup fitted with a 800-tonne wrap-around-the-leg offshore-rated crane. The vessel can operate in water depths ranging from 5.5 meters to 60 meters. (Source and image: Fred.Olsen Windcarrier)
