BRAVE TERN READY FOR LARGEST WIND TURBINES
After succesfully getting the crane boom extended by 20m at Damen Shipyard in Amsterdam, Brave Tern is now ready for new projects with a lift height of up to 120m. The work was completed on time without hiccups, thanks to a seamless cooperation between Fred. Olsen Windcarrier and the professional project staff at Damen. Brave Tern is now ready to install offshore wind farms with larger turbines and higher hub heights, such as the MHI Vestas V164 8MW.
Brave Tern is equipped with 800-tonne wrap-around-the-leg offshore-rated crane, designed by Gusto MSC, as well as robust, continuous-type hydraulic jacking systems. In addition, the vessel has a DP2-class type dynamic positioning system and is fitted with a Voith Schneider propulsion system enabling secure and accurate positioning capabilities. Brave Tern features high-quality accommodation for up to 80 people in 56 cabins, and have helidecks for transfers during offshore operations. (Source and image: Fred.Olsen WindCarrier)
