BRAZIL – OCYAN AWARDED CONTRACT FROM PETROBRAS FOR NORBE VIII
The Brazilian state company Petrobras, on behalf of the Libra Consortium, has hired the Ocyan drillship Norbe VIII for drilling operations at the Mero field, located in the Santos Basin deep water offshore Brazil. The contract, expected to commence in July 2021, will be for a period of 425 days, with an option to extend the contract by an additional 655 days.
According to the Norwegian broker Bassoe Offshore the is around $200,000.
Norbe VIII is currently in the final stages of its original 10-year contract with Petrobras
Odebrecht Oil & Gas, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, specialized in providing services for the oil and gas industry, became Ocyan in January 2018. The rebranding closed a cycle of renewal for the company, with the completion of its financial restructuring.
The Ocyan fleet consists of four drillships and two semi-submersible rigs.
• NORBE VI – semi submersible drilling rig, latest generation, with dynamic positioning able to operate at a depth of water up to 2,400 meters and drill wells up to 7,500 meters. The unit started its operation in Brazilian waters in July 2011 and is worth mentioning, because it celebrates the resumption of Odebrecht’s Group work in Offshore Drilling. The unit follows up a series of platforms with the same name, who were part of the Odebrecht Group through Odebrecht Drilling Ltd., OPL. Client: Petrobras.
• NORBE VIII – drilling ship with dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depths up to 3,000 meters and drill up to 10,000 meters. Client: Petrobras.
• NORBE IX – drilling ship with dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depths up to 3,000 meters and drill up to 10,000 meters. Client: Petrobras.
• ODN I – drilling ship with dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depths up to 3,000 meters and drill up to 10,000 meters. Client: Petrobras. Contract: 2012 by 2022, renewable for another ten years.
• ODN II – drilling ship with dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depths up to 3,000 meters and drill up to 10,000 meters. Client: Petrobras. Contract: 2012 by 2022, renewable for another ten years.
• ODN Delba III – semi submersible drilling rig with dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depths up to 2,400 meters and drill wells up to 7,500 meters. Client: Petrobras. Contract: 2012 by 2019, renewable for another seven years.
