CATALYST ENERGY UNVEILS VORTEX PRIME FRACTURING FLEET

March 09, 2022

Midland-based Catalyst Energy Services (Catalyst) unveiled its newest innovative product, “Vortex Prime,” a first-of-its-kind fracturing fleet that utilizes direct-drive turbine technology.
Catalyst is dedicated to building technology that results in a cleaner future for hydraulic fracturing, as well as the communities in which they serve. Vortex Prime improves safety, optimizes production, decreases footprint and reduces waste and emissions.
“Catalyst brought together experts who have innovated a clear path to a cleaner future,” said Bobby Chapman, president and CEO of Catalyst. “I have spent more than four decades studying and innovating pressure pumping, and developing Vortex Prime, which will dramatically and literally change the fracking landscape, is my proudest professional achievement.”
Catalyst’s top priority is fostering a commitment to safety. Vortex Prime uses less equipment–decreasing a standard footprint from roughly 20 pumps to about eight—and automated software in order to reduce risk. The smaller fleet allows for faster set-up time and the implementation of fracturing technology in small and remote spaces. Additionally, no power source is required.
The new product enables optimized production. Vortex Prime minimizes downtime and fuel burn while idle through its kill-switch technology; this reduces up/down time to three-to-five minutes to get back online versus the hours it takes traditional fracturing fleets.
In reducing waste and emissions, a Vortex Prime fleet can reduce 40 percent of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions over Tier 4 frac fleets.
Catalyst Energy Services started with the idea that technology is the key to the future. We take the stewardship of preserving our world’s resources seriously, and we’re passionate about our industry because we help people every day. From manufacturing to transportation, from protecting frontline workers to creating everyday products, our industry keeps people and connected.
