EDF SUBMITS AUTHORIZATION REQUEST FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF 2 NEW EPR2 REACTORS
The EDF (Electricité de France) board of directors validated on Wednesday June 28, 2023 the decision to submit the creation authorization request (DAC) for the two new generation reactors (EPR2) on the Penly site, near Dieppe (Seine -Maritime).
This official decision makes it possible to see a little more clearly on the work schedule. The preparatory phases for the construction site should start before the end of 2023.
The construction site should be launched in 2027 for the commissioning of the first of the two reactors by 2035-2037. The EPR2 is designed to be integrated into the future French energy mix by 2040.
EDF said: “EDF is initiating the authorization procedures necessary to launch construction work on the first pair of EPR2 reactors at Penly (Seine-Maritime), as well as the other administrative procedures necessary for its construction and its connection to the electricity transmission network.”
The Penly Nuclear power station is located some 10 km northeast of Dieppe, in the department of Seine-Maritime, Normandy, on the English Channel coast.
