ENGIE GREEN WINS THREE SOLAR PROJECTS IN FRANCE

The French solar leader ENGIE Green has won three projects, including an innovative one in the Pays de la Loire region as part of the government’s solar invitations to tender. These projects are located in Montoir de Bretagne, in Loire-Atlantique (44), on the land of Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port. They will be installed on approximately 15 hectares of land belonging to Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port, in the immediate vicinity of the LNG terminal of Montoir-de-Bretagne. Totaling a power of 12.6 MWp (two installations of 5 MWp and one of 2.6 MWp), they will inject, from the first half of 2022, their first clean and renewable kilowatt-hours on the national electricity grid and will provide the equivalent of the annual consumption of 7,700 people.
One of these projects, with a capacity of 5 MWp, incorporates a winning technological innovation of the government’s “innovative solar” tender. It is a forecasting system daily solar irradiation and power generation of the power plant by learning based on neural networks. This system will be implemented and hosted on the servers of the Reuniwatt company, a specialist in the observation of clouds and solar radiation. These forecasts will be established, initially, on the basis of data provided by a autonomous weather station installed for two years on the photovoltaic site, then thanks to learning neural networks. This innovative system based on prediction term will thus contribute to the stability of the French electricity grid, a major stake linked to the development of decentralized electricity production sites.
The CRE selection stage for these three solar power plant projects having been validated, the construction phase can be launched with a start-up of the site scheduled for fall 2021.
ENGIE Green, a subsidiary of the ENGIE Group, is the leader in solar energy production in France. The company is headquartered in Merignac, near Bordeaux. Its objective is to support the territories in the transition to neutrality carbon by proposing tailor-made sustainable renewable energy projects. In the Pays-de-la-Loire Region, ENGIE Green totals more than 22 MWp solar (5 power plants) and nearly 68 MW of wind power (7 wind farms).
