GAZPROM NEFT SHIPS 10-MILLIONTH TONNE OF OIL FROM NOVY PORT

The total volume of oil shipped under Gazprom Neft’s logistics scheme in the Russian Arctic has now reached 10 million tonnes, with the latest 100,000-tonne consignment of Novy Port oil being shipped to customers from the Umba floating-storage and offtake (FSO) tanker. The Umba transhipment complex is located in the harbour of the Kola Bay and receives oil delivered by shuttle tanker from the Prirazlomnoye and Novoportovskoye fields. The scheme’s high level of efficiency is ensured by reducing the turnaround times of reinforced ice-class tankers delivering oil from the fields, by using a standard tanker fleet for dispatching oil to customers, and through a flexible approach in planning supply volumes. The Umba FSO has been re-equipped in line with the climatic conditions of the Arctic. All oil transhipments are undertaken in full compliance with the latest environmental requirements and standards.
Maximum turnaround capacity at the transhipment complex is 15 million tonnes of Arctic and Novy Port oil per year — the latter’s composition meaning it is classified as “light”, thanks to its low sulphur content (of approximately 0.1 percent), making its superior not just to Russian Urals blend, but also Brent crude.
