NORTH DAKOTA AND EAGLE FORD SET NEW PRODUCTION RECORDS

With 95% of its production coming from the Bakken and Three Forks formations, North Dakota  set new production records in May with 810,000 barrels of oil per day and 899 million cubic feet of gas per day. There are 8,915 producing wells in North Dakota where 218 rigs are on operation. In Texas, Eagle Ford oil daily production surpassed 600,000 barrels for the first time, gas production holding flat at 2.1 billion cubic feet per day. Up to 5,700 wells are producing with a rig count averaging 270. With US producing 7.3 barrels of oil at the same period, the North Dakota and Eagle Ford shales produced together 1.41 million barrels of oil per day which is close to 20% of the total US oil production.  Drilling near Williston, North Dakota – Image: J.
