NOV COMPLETES REFURBISHMENT OF LTS 3000 HEAVY LIFT PIPELAY VESSEL
NOV has refurbished the Heavy Lift Post crane on L&T Sapura Shipping’s LTS 3000 heavy lift/pipelay vessel.
L&T Sapura Shipping ordered the refurbishment package at the end of 2020. Due to an incident earlier that year, the package included a new boom. NOV Korea fabricated the 93-m-long boom in just 10 months. Collaboration across NOV’s Marine and Construction business unit, enabled the delivery of state-of-the-art software and controls system, a spacious operator’s cabin, and a hoist drum braking system by the end of 2021.
The vessel was prepared and afterwards the new boom and other hardware were installed at the ASL yard in Batam, Indonesia. The electric-driven crane with a 3,000-short ton lifting capacity was commissioned in early October 2022.
The refurbished LTS 3000 heavy lift/pipelay vessel recently completed an assignment at the Timi development project about 200 km offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.
“We achieved a great milestone by commissioning the crane on time. This enabled our client to mobilize the vessel for the heavy lift project in Malaysia. The LTS3000 featuring our NOV Heavy Lift Post crane is back in the market and fully booked throughout 2023, offering value to the offshore heavy lift industry again” said Spyros Magripis, Project Manager, GustoMSC-NOV.
