ROWAN RETIRES GORILLA IV AND SCRAPS CECIL PROVINE
Houston based offshore driller Rowan announced that it sold the jackup Cecil Provine in November 2017 for scrap, and has cold-stacked the jackup Gorilla IV following the conclusion of its latest contract.
Cecil Provine was a Marathon LeTourneau 116-C jackup built in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1982. Rowan Gorilla IV was also built by Marathon LeTourneau in Vicksburg. Part of the famous series of Gorilla Class jackups, the rig was delivered in 1986. Rowan Gorilla IV drilled its last wells in the Gulf of Mexico for Arena Energy. (Source: Rowan Companies)
