RRS ERNEST SHACKLETON WINS CONTRACT EXTENSION

Bristish Antarctic Survey (BAS) a component body of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), declares its fourth option for a one-year extension of the bareboat charter for “RRS Ernest Shackleton”. The option will be effective from August 2017. “RRS Ernest Shackleton” has been on a long-term charter with BAS since August 1999. BAS further holds one annual option to extend the bareboat charter. Built in 1995, Ernest Shackleton is a polar research and subsea support vessel built on the basis of long-term experience and accumulated in-house expertise in polar research and subsea support operations in the North Sea. The vessel is ice strengthened and capable of a wide range of logistic tasks as well as having scientific capabilities. (Image: GC Rieber)
