TOSHIBA AND UKRAINE’s TURBOATOM SIGN AGREEMENT
Ukraine’s Turboatom and Japanese Corporation Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of nuclear energy with contribution of SE NNEGC Energoatom.
The document was signed in the Energoatom Central Office by Turboatom’s General Director Victor Subotin as well as by Mr. Goro Yanase, Director, Vice President of Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation in the presence of Energoatom’s president Yurii Nedashkovskyi. The representatives of Japanese Embassy in Ukraine also participated in signing of the Memorandum.
The companies agreed on the beginning of cooperation aimed to realize projects of turbine equipment modernization of machine halls at NPPs. It is stated in the memorandum that cooperation between Turboatom and Toshiba will be based on high potential and great experience of both companies in developing and realizing new engineering and technical solutions in the field of nuclear energy.
While opening the ceremony of signing the memorandum, Energoatom’s president Yurii Nedashkovskyi expresses his satisfaction regarding deeper cooperation of Ukraine’s leading company with one of the world’s leaders in the field of energy engineering. “Energoatom supports cooperation between Turboatom and Toshiba. Our company realizes big programs of safety, reliability and effectiveness improvement of energy plants at Ukrainian NPPs and Turboatom is one of Energoatom’s main partners in these projects. I am confident that cooperation of our partners Turboatom and Toshiba will contribute to development of energy engineering in Ukraine and consequently increase effectiveness of Ukraine’s equipment modernization”, said Yurii Nedashkovskyi.
Based in Kharkiv in northeast Ukraine, Turboatom produces steam and hydro turbines with total designed capacity of 8 mln kW and 2 mln. kW, respectively per year. The turbine production is realized in closed cycle: from development and research till manufacturing, assembling, testing and shipping. (Source and image: Turboatom)
