VAR ENERGY TO REMOVE AND DISPOSE JOTUN B PLATFORM

The Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway has given Var Energi consent for the removal and disposal of Jotun B.
The Jotun field is located in the central part of the North Sea, 25 kilometres north of the Balder field. The water depth is 126 metres. Jotun was discovered in 1994, and the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 1997. The field was developed with Jotun A, a combined production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO), and Jotun B, a wellhead facility. Jotun is integrated with the Balder field. Production started in 1999.
The wellhead platform Jotun B consists of an integrated deck with utilities, wellhead systems, a helideck, support systems and complete drilling facilities with derrick and mud facilities.
In December 2018, Point Resources AS and Eni Norge AS merged and renamed the company Vår Energi AS. The company is based in Sandnes in Norway. Var Energi is today the largest, independent exploration and production (E&P) company on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) with a 2018 average net production of over 169,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from 17 oil and gas fields. The company operates five fields on the NCS, located in the Barents Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the North Sea. In addition to operated fields located across the entire shelf, Var Energi has ownership interests in 14 partner-operated fields.
