WOOD GROUP AND AMEC FOSTER WHEELER TO MERGE

Wood Group is to merge with AMEC Foster Wheeler in a deal which will see AMEC FW taken over by Wood Group for £2.2 billion. The deal creates a £5 billion company that will provide services to the oil and gas, other energy, chemicals, and mining industries. Wood Group employs 29,000 people while Amec has 35,000 workers. By leveraging Amec Foster Wheeler’s and Wood Group’s combined asset life cycle services across project delivery, engineering, modifications, construction, operations, maintenance and consulting activities, the Combined Group will be able to better capitalise on growth opportunities across a broad cross section of energy and industrial end markets.
